A Lifetime of Experience in Independent Education and Admissions

Jessica Curry’s work in educational consulting is grounded in a lifelong relationship with independent schools—one that spans her experience as a student, a parent, and a school administrator. She attended independent schools for her primary and secondary education, developing an early understanding of the academic rigor, community values, and sense of purpose that define these environments. That foundation continues to shape how she approaches education today.

As a parent of children currently enrolled in Los Angeles independent schools, Jessica brings a deeply personal perspective to her work. She understands the questions parents and families face, the emotional weight of school decisions, and the importance of finding environments where children feel confident, supported, included and truly known. Professionally, Jessica is a former independent school administrator who managed the admissions outplacement process, working closely with school leadership and admissions teams, faculty, and families from the beginning of their admissions application process through decision notifications and beyond. That deeply rewarding full circle aspect of her role provided firsthand insight into how indepdendent schools evaluate applicants, what they prioritize beyond grades and scores, and how thoughtful preparation can help students step into new environments with confidence and ease.

This combination of lived experience—student, parent, and administrator—allows Jessica to guide families with clarity, empathy, and discernment. Her approach is rooted in relationship-building, integrity, and a deep respect for both families and schools. Through Pivot Consulting, she brings this perspective together to offer families informed, thoughtful guidance shaped by lifelong experience and trusted relationships within the independent school community.

My work in independent education is deeply personal, shaped by a lifelong connection to schools, families, and the transformative power of learning. As a parent of three children enrolled in Los Angeles independent schools, I understand firsthand the care, intention, and emotion that go into choosing the right educational environment.

My work has centered on supporting families through important educational decisions, helping them navigate moments of transition with clarity and confidence. I bring a deep understanding of how schools evaluate readiness, alignment, and fit, and how thoughtful preparation can make a meaningful difference in a student’s experience and long-term success.

In addition to my work in education, I am a New York Times bestselling author and literacy advocate. Storytelling has always been at the heart of what I do–whether through books, conversation, or guiding families through their own journeys. I believe deeply in the power of each child’s story and in helping students feel seen, supported, and confident as they grow into who they are meant to be.

Through Pivot Consulting, I bring together experience, perspective, and care to support families during one of the most important decisions they will make. It is a privilege to walk alongside families in this process and an honor to help children step into environments where they can truly thrive.

Thoughtful admissions guidance—rooted in experience, relationship, and care.
